SGX
-Simulation/Gaming eXchange, The Internet Clearinghouse for Simulation/Gaming
Resources, offers several links to games and simulations, and different
sites with organizations, journals, services and programs concerned with
simulation and gaming. You can browse by keyword to find exactly what
you are looking for, or you can seek in the Subject area (business, law,
social sciences, etc.), in Format, containing all-computer simulation,
role-play, policy, planning exercise and more, and in Professional Aspects
(design, ethics, publications, research, etc.). http://sg.comp.nus.edu.sg/
Journals
S&G
(Simulation & Gaming) is an interdisciplinary journal of theory, practice
and research of simulations and gaming. S&G is a leading international
forum for the study and discussion of simulation/gaming methodology used
in education, training, consultation, and research. Their quarterly journal
examines the methodologies and explores their application to real-world
problems and situations. http://www.unice.fr/sg/
Organizations
ABSEL,
Association for Business Simulation and Experimental Learning, develops
and promotes the use of experimental techniques and simulations in the
field of business education and development, business gaming, experimental
learning in higher education, and professional training and international
organizations. They have interdisciplinary and global membership and associations
with ISAGA, JASAG and NASAGA. http://www.towson.edu/~absel/
ISAGA,
International Simulation and Gaming Association, is an international organization
for scientists and practitioners developing and using simulation, gaming
and related methodologies, e.g. simulation, role-play, policy exercises,
play, gaming, virtual reality, active learning, etc. used in professional
areas such as university, industry, government and business. http://www.isaga.info/
JASAG,
Japan Association of Simulation and Gaming, forms both domestic and international
networks for scholarly communication. The association aims to further
develop simulation and gaming approaches, and create foundation for various
research projects and applications regarding fields like global-scale
problems, world peace and development, population, food and welfare of
elderly society, regional development and city planning, origin of space
and history of civilization, etc. http://www.fklab.world.ryukoku.ac.jp/jasag/menu_e.html
NASAGA,
North American Simulation and Gaming, is a network of professionals working
on design, implementation, and evaluation of games and simulations to
improve learning results in all types of organizations. NASAGA has an
annual conference, a newsletter called SIMAGES and links to member web
sites with companies offering simulation and training for e.g. government,
business and education. http://www.nasaga.org/
SAGSET,
The Society for the Advancement of Games and Simulations in Education
and Training, is a voluntary professional society dedicated to improving
the effectiveness and quality of learning through the use of interactive
learning, role-play, simulation and gaming in all aspects of education
and training from Primary School to University and in all levels of adult,
lifelong learning. The site offers a "yearbook" with aspects of the development
and use of simulations and games, an annual conference, a newsletter,
sources of information, news and research topics, etc. http://www.ms.ic.ac.uk/sagset/
Commercial
Simulation Games Developers
EduSim
is a commercial developer of simulation games. EduSim provides reasonably
priced simulations ($25 US per simulation or $150 US for the entire set
of 21) for government, business and education. Several of these emphasize
teambuilding, cross-cultural communication, negotiation, and leadership
skills that are consistent with the shared learning objectives of Project
IDEELS telematic simulations. http://www.edusim.net/
